Did you know that the fear of public speaking is often rated higher than a person’s fear of death? And in network marketing, this is a fear that most cannot afford to have. You may already know the top tips for successful network marketing presentations by heart: Show, don’t tell; stories instead of facts; give a reason to act to name a few. You may also know that a presentation can make or break your business building opportunities. For that reason, it is sometimes necessary to get back to the basics. The following are a few basic tips for creating confidence and building effective presentations.
1. Preparation - Know your audience. What do they know of the subject? What background information do they need? Too technical and you’ll confuse them. To fluffy and you’ll bore them. Know the room. Be familiar with the audiovisual equipment, podium, seating and light switches. Preparation equals confidence, which equals control.
2. Make a point - Organize your message for optimal absorption. The best approach is to always have a beginning where you tell them what you are going to tell them (preview); a body where you actually tell them; and a closing where you tell them what you’ve told them (review). Redundancy works. Stick to three key messages with up to three supporting facts. Your audience will have a hard time remembering any more than that.
3. Practice - 90 percent of what you communicate is how you look and how you sound while you’re saying it. Voice, posture, eye contact, smile, ease of response, physical control are all dead give-aways of how comfortable you are standing in front of a sea of people. Every athlete, businessperson and pageant queen know that practice makes perfect. Know your own facial expressions, gestures, pace, speech patterns and body orientation.
4. Know the three “C’s” of communication - Credibility. Control. Charisma. Showcase your expertise. Create authority. But don’t forget to be relatable.
5. Continue learning - Network marketing is constantly changing. Make sure you keep up. |
